Online collaboration means a great deal to charities

A partnership between comotivate and a global administration platform aimed at supporting good causes, is offering the not-for-profit sector free access to leading technology.

High profile, well funded charities have certainly been quick to leverage the internet to strengthen brand awareness and drive down their administration costs. But the technological investment and skills have been hard to come by for smaller non-profit organizations.

Now, Australian-based comotivate.com is helping overcome those barriers by partnering with GivenGain and offering six months free access to a leading integrated online cause administration platform covering: payment processing, donor management, online publishing and communication tools.

GivenGain have already helped raise over $37 million for good causes. The service automates complex, critical processes from beginning to end, allowing organizations to cut costs, increase revenue, build and manage relationships and win broader support for their cause. Comotivate.com matches people with similar goals and allows them to collaborate in teams. It will soon integrate with GivenGain more fully to allow users to raise money in support of their challenges.

Comotivate.com founder, Matt Lawton helps explain: “The online experience can make or break a fundraising campaign for donors, fundraisers and ultimately the charity. The GivenGain platform provides the complete solution.”

Nobody taking up the introductory offer through comotivate is obliged to either continue on with the service or run activity on comotivate.com and Lawton believes that’s important. “I’m confident that those non-profits that begin to feel comfortable with an enhanced web presence will want to find ways of further leveraging their campaigns. Anyone unable to develop a sound online strategy is going to struggle more and more.”

Charities interested in learning more should visit: www.comotivate.givengain.org and contact Matt Lawton.

What's the value of a strapline?

Just do it; The real thing; The world's favourite airline - powerful branding levers.

Are new world brands as adept at creating straplines as old world brands? Google, facebook, digg, twitter - they don't have one....and they'd be quick to say they don't need one...but youtube does: "broadcast yourself" and they could probably do without it, so what gives?

Does a strapline help support an online brand?

I've staked my claim with comotivate - get it together. We'll see what value that adds. "together" is one of my keywords so it makes more meta-sense than "Welcome to comotivate" which is what I had.

Since there are only about 100,000 people in the world that even know about comotivate at the moment, I don't suppose I'm risking much. But I'm ambitious about creating a brand so I'm being deliberately stella in the comparisons I'm drawing.

If anyone has any views on the value of straplines to online brands or a view on "get it together" then please @comotivate me.

New look site goes live on the biggest day of the year

2009 has started in style with comotivate taking on a new look and feel. This has been designed to

- make sign up easier and quicker

- provide a better user experience

- make the site look like a better place to spend time

- enhance first time user understanding of the site and it's functionality

You will notice a 'tour' video and the idea will be to add to this collection of tutorials over time.

Thanks to all the users who have given feedback to help make the site better (especially Erin).

Best wishes for 2009 to everyone.

twitter followers, comotivate bonds

@comotivate has been tweeting a few updates relating to the site so feel free to follow me if you're a twitter fan. I've been surfing the web (to use a 90's expression) and I'm just so over reading what the 'experts' have to say/sell.

It's my belief that ordinary people can be the inspiration needed to help other ordinary people on their way...once we have a connection with someone that's based on something tangible and real, then proper bonds are formed and the motivation is created to do our research, take action, log our progress, cheer on our buddies.

Well, that's just what i think anyway...get busy now - off you go.

can comotivate motivate the motivators?

http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/comotivate_-_a_test_of_peer_support.html

Got this published and it's helped put pressure on me now to deliver and square the circle...I want to create a coaching resource where users can select to have a coach join their team. This story might get some interest.

motivated stumblers

I've been targeting SU users in the last few days with some paid for advertising just as a trial and it's generated some great sign-ups. Positive feedback is running at around 80% mark and a lot of the registrations exemplify why comotivate exists. A lot of people have highlighted their 'story' - the thing that holds them back or explains thie unique circumstances. Obviously, as comotivate grows they will begin to realise that there are others out there just like them that make ideal buddies with whom to work together on their goal.

Good luck to everyone who's currently on the site.

Charity developments

Since speaking to Inspire Foundation about the comotivate concept, I've been thinking loads about how to better develop the charity model within comotivate.

My research has included looking at the following great websites:

karmacurrency.com.au

networkforgood.org

everydayhero.com.au

helpinghand.com

fundraiseonline.co.nz

I think there's a model that is yet to be deployed so I'm now busy developing the spec for that through discussion with my ever expanding trusted peer group.
